Apr 19    Monthly Chamber Luncheon

Join us for our April luncheon, sponsored by Security 1st Title. Security 1st Title will be serving up a BBQ feast for the ages. They have quickly established themselves as an important part of the real estate industry in Gardner and the surrounding area and we're excited to connect their clients with other Chamber businesses.

Program: Confronting the realities of a hostile intruder: Communities prepare for fire, climactic and medical emergencies but often overlook the most likely threat to employee safety; the hostile intruder/active shooter.  This presentation will focus on a historical perspective for active shooters in schools, businesses and the community.  Information will be shared about employer expectations and liabilities for maintaining a workplace free from hazards.  The presentation will conclude with simple steps to start the process of addressing this threat such as alerting staff, notifying police and providing adequate tools for response.

Douglas B. Parisi, MPA is the Director of Training for SafeDefend.  He is a former police captain with over 20 years of service.  He has personal experience with an active shooter situation as a police sergeant.  During 3 ½ years as a police academy commander he obtained extensive training on site security, active shooter response and civilian response to hostile events.
