Our monthly coffee in September is hosted by the Lanesfield Historic Site (an operation of the Johnson County Museum) and continental breakfast is sponsored by KCP&L. If you have never visited this unique historic site located in SW Johnson County you won't want to miss it. Learn more about what they teach Johnson County schoolchildren, the history of the schoolhouse and hear more about the most unique escape room in the region.

Sep 4    Competing for Government Contracts: Basic Training
This introductory seminar is an overview of the critical first steps associated with pursuing government contracts. The Kansas Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) presents information on how to get started in the government contracting arena including federal, state and local government registrations and certifications. The seminar will also cover Kansas PTAC services available to assist businesses in all aspects of government contracting. Not eligible for Take 3 discount. Course registration required.

Help save the lives of homeless pets by competing in the Reps and Rescues Rumble! This is a partner competition to benefit Prairie Paws Animal Shelter, a non-profit, no kill shelter located in Ottawa, KS. Rx and Scaled division available. Teams my be comprised of MM, MF, or FF.  All WOD's are named after pets that helped save our lives.  Let's pay that forward and save more! This day-long seminar will cover the basics of starting a small business, including determining whether your idea is feasible, creating a business plan, choosing a legal entity, forming financial projections, marketing, developing a web presence, and bookkeeping. Please join us for coffee to welcome Pete Carr, the new financial advisor of Edward Jones in Downtown Gardner. Pete takes over the long-time office of JP Davies, who has recently been promoted and will be leading an entire region out of St. Louis.

Pete comes to us from Baldwin City, where he built great relationships and promises to continue serving clients here like we're accustomed to.

Everyone is invited to this special welcome coffee and it will also serve as a send-off to JP, who has recently moved his family to the St. Louis area as he starts his new role. We hope to see you there!

Join us for the 7th Annual Gardner Edgerton Sporting Clay Shoot. Some call it "Golf with a Shotgun"; we call it a great opportunity to network and enjoy some Thursday afternoon fun while supporting an organization that supports you - the Gardner Edgerton Chamber of Commerce.

Sep 27 - Sep 28    2019 Smoke on the Trails (A KCBS BBQ Competition)
The Smoke on the Trails BBQ competition will take place on September 27 and 28, 2019 at Celebration Park.  This Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event is a qualifying event for the American Royal World Series of Barbeque competition and the Jack Daniels World Championship for 2020.  BBQ teams will check in Friday during the day and begin to set up their camps.  Friday night, the public will be invited out to participate in a People's Choice competition.

Formal BBQ judging will begin on Saturday and a total purse of $10,000 will be on the line for teams participating in the categories of chicken, ribs, pork and brisket. Top 10 in each category will be awarded.  
 

PARKING:  Cars can be parked at Celebration Park, however, once it fills, overflow parking will be available in the Pioneer Ridge Middle School parking lot just south of the park. Parking is free.

Sep 28    2019 Grand Slam Beer, Wine & Spirits Fest

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 28, 2019 as Gardner Parks and Recreation brings you the award-winning, third annual, Grand Slam Craft Beer, Wine & Spirits Fest. Local breweries, wineries and distilleries will be on hand in the outfields at Celebration Park to share their creations of libations with you.  We'll also have non-alcoholic beverages onsite for you to enjoy. 

This will be a ticketed event and limited to the first 1000 people. Participants will receive a commemorative sample glass and a program with descriptions of all beverages on site. Catered appetizers will be provided and a DJ will entertain and provide the perfect soundtrack for the evening.

Challenge your friends to one of the yard games we'll have onsite or just bring a blanket/lawn chair and enjoy the evening. Either way, this is one event adults will not want to miss.

This is an adult only event and attendees must be at least 21 years of age to enter.  **PLEASE BRING ID WITH YOU TO THE EVENT.**
